Sustainability Strategy

Economic development is no longer possible without environmental and social progress. The financial sector has an important role to play by supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy that balances the environmental, social and economic needs of society.

Volvo Financial Services is fully committed to supporting the Volvo Group, which is a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and supporter of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Volvo Group has set ambitious targets in accordance with Science Based Targets initiative and provides a Green Finance Framework to accelerate our transformation to fossil free solutions. By helping provide sustainable financial solutions, we will create value for Volvo Group customers and society at large.

Volvo Group Sustainability Framework

Climate

Greenhouse gas emissions are one of the biggest threats to the planet. This is what we do to replace fossil power with clean energy sources

Resources

The planet’s resources are finite. This is what we do to improve efficiency and take a step change on circularity

People

We are a human centric company. This is what we do to deliver safety, respect human rights and use our full potential.

Climate

Cutting greenhouse gas emissions is critical to meet the ambitions of the Paris Climate Agreements. One of the most important things we can do is to support our customers in their electrification journey by providing sustainable financing for greener vehicles and equipment. VFS provides innovative financing and leasing solutions to help the Volvo Group reach its target of 35 percent fully electric vehicle sales by 2030.

Resources

Driving the shift toward a more circular economy, actions have been implemented to increase financing for second lives of vehicles, parts and service financing and financing used and remanufactured parts. Equipment as a Service (EaaS) aims to bundle all services and solutions provided by the Group to increase electric product utilization, while supporting our aspirations to finance more sustainable and cleaner transportation solutions.

People

People are our greatest asset, and we are proud to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining world-class talent. As a human centric company, we strive to have a positive impact on people around us and are committed to respecting human rights. We encourage fostering long-term relationships to help find solutions to complex challenges and issues. VFS is investing in the teaching of financial literacy skills for youth through a global partnership with Junior Achievement Worldwide. Together, we will teach young people important financial skills needed to be successful. Read more >
